Project overview
Fruitezy operates a busy fresh-produce store inside Sydney Fish Market, a retail environment with constant foot traffic, multiple service points and little room for downtime. AP Technologies Group designed, installed and commissioned a Hikvision CCTV system for the store that goes beyond recording: it combines full camera coverage with in-camera video analytics and point-of-sale integration, so the same platform that protects the store also helps run it.
Camera coverage
The camera layout was planned around how the store actually operates (entries, the open shop floor, service counters and point-of-sale positions) so that coverage is complete and the footage from every camera is genuinely usable, not just present.
Hikvision technology
The system is built on Hikvision commercial CCTV hardware, chosen for its reliability in continuous retail operation and for the video analytics built directly into the camera platform.
Fisheye camera functionality
Ceiling-mounted fisheye cameras capture a complete panoramic view of the open floor from a single mounting point. Panoramic footage can be de-warped into conventional views during live viewing and playback, so one camera delivers both full situational coverage of the floor and usable detail when something needs a closer look.
Video analytics
Two analytics capabilities were configured as part of the deployment:
- People counting: the system counts customers entering and leaving the store, giving Fruitezy visibility of traffic and visit patterns without manual counts.
- Heat mapping: customer movement across the floor is aggregated into heat maps showing where shoppers dwell and which areas they pass by, useful evidence for product placement and store layout decisions.
Point-of-sale integration
The CCTV platform is integrated with the store's point-of-sale system, linking transaction data to the video timeline. Individual sales can be reviewed alongside footage of the transaction itself, a practical tool for resolving register discrepancies and investigating shrinkage.
System commissioning
Every camera, analytic and integration was configured, tested and verified on site. At handover, the store team was walked through live viewing, playback, and the counting and heat-map reporting, so the system is used day to day rather than only after an incident.
