Project overview
AP Technologies Group delivered security systems for IGA at Windmill Hill, New South Wales. The full case study for this project is being prepared for publication, and this page will be updated with the system detail, site photography and outcomes once it is complete.
In the meantime, the sections below describe how we approach supermarket security work generally: the method behind every retail project we take on.
Client requirements
Every supermarket project starts with a conversation about what the store actually needs to see and control: the counters, the entries, the back of house, the stock areas and the points where loss tends to occur. We work from the operator's own concerns rather than a standard camera count.
Requirements are documented before design begins, so the client knows what they are buying and we know what the system has to prove at handover.
Systems installed
Retail sites of this type typically call for CCTV coverage supported by the network and cabling infrastructure it depends on, and often access control or alarm monitoring for back-of-house and after-hours protection.
The specific systems and hardware installed at Windmill Hill will be listed here when the case study is published.
Scope of works
Our scope on a supermarket project usually covers design, supply, cabling, installation, configuration, commissioning and handover training. Defining that scope in writing before we start is what keeps the job predictable for the store.
Challenges
The constant on any operating supermarket is trading hours. Aisles stay open, customers keep moving through the space, and ceiling and cabling work has to fit around that rather than interrupt it. Coverage also has to be planned around fixed obstructions (gondola runs, signage, refrigeration and lighting) that a plan on paper does not always reveal.
Solution delivered
We stage supermarket installations around the trading day, using early mornings, after-hours windows and quiet periods so the store stays open and safe throughout. Camera positions are set out and checked on site before anything is fixed, so the coverage that was designed is the coverage that gets installed.
The delivered outcome for this project will be described here once the case study is finalised.
Products & technologies
Across our retail work, AP Technologies Group installs proven commercial-grade equipment, along with the switching, cabling and supporting infrastructure a system needs to run reliably in continuous operation.
The specific products used at Windmill Hill will be listed here when the case study is published.
Final outcome
Every system we hand over is tested and verified on site, and the store team is walked through live viewing, playback and day-to-day use before we leave. Results and client feedback from this project will be added once the case study is published.
